(WPRI) - Scranton starter John Maine outdueled Daisuke Matsuzaka, Nelson Figueroa and the PawSox, 2-1 on Monday night in Rochester.
Maine (5-3) retired the first six hitters he faced, allowed a walk and a single, then retired the final 15 Pawtucket batters. Maine struck out three in 7 scoreless innings, retiring 21 of the 23 men he faced.
Dice-K worked two and a third innings, allowing 4 hits and no runs. Figueroa allowed a run in 4 and two thirds frames. Figueroa fanned 6. Alex Wilson surrendered an eighth inning run that made it 2-0.
In the ninth, Pawtucket scored its' only run on a fileders' choice by Ryan Kalish in the ninth. Che-Hsuan Lin scored the run. He had two of the three PawSox hits. Figueroa falls to 8-3
The Yankees reclaim first place in the North by a half game with the series continuing on Tuesday night in Rochester. Zach Stewart (1-2) faces Ramon Ortiz (9-3)
