Pawsox earn split with Gwinnett

Gomez homers twice in Pawtucket's 4-1 win

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The PawSox beat the Braves Tuesday night 4-1 at McCoy Stadium to split the 4-game series. Mauro Gomez went 3 for 4, with two home runs (14th and 15th). 12 of his 15 home runs have come at McCoy and this is Gomez's second multi-home run game of the season, the last one on April 20th.

The PawSox tied the game 1-1 when Lars Anderson led off the second inning with a walk and scored on a ground ball double play by Alex Hassan. Neither team had scored until the sixth inning when Gomez homered to right field and gave the PawSox the lead, 3-1.

Mark Prior entered the game in the eighth inning, struck out the side and got out of a bases loaded threat by the Braves. Starter Brandon Duckworth pitched five and two thirds innings. He gave up seven hits, one earned run, walked three and struck out three. Alex Wilson earned the win (5-1) in one inning and a batter, gave up one hit and struck out two. The PawSox improve to 41-25 and the braves fall to 35-31. Kris Medlen (0-2) got the loss. He gave up six hits, three earned runs (1 hom erun), walked four and struck out two.

Ciriaco, Anderson, Kroeger, and Thomasecah had one hit. The PawSox will play a 4-game series at Buffalo, starting on Thursday, June 14 at 7:05 pm and continuing until Sunday, June 17. The first three games are at 7:05 pm and an afternoon game on Sunday (1:05 pm).
