PawSox rally to take playoff opener

Pawtucket scored 7 unanswered runs vs. Yankees

The Pawtucket Red Sox rallied from a 4-0 deficit to score 7 unanswered runs and beat Scranton 7-4 in game one of the best of five, first round International League playoff series. The Yankees scored a run in the second and three more in the third. Kevin Russo and Luke Murton homered. Zack Stewart settled down and worked 5 innings for the win. The trio of Alex Wilson, Pedro Beato and Jose de la Torre combined for 4 scoreless innings of relief.

The PawSox answered with three runs in the third and two in the fifth and eighth innings. Andy LaRoche, J.C. Linares and Bryce Brentz hit home runs for Pawtucket. LaRoche added a two run double for the Sox. Tony Thomas added three hits for the winners.

Game two of the series is scheduled for Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. at McCoy. Chris Hernandez faces Ramon Ortiz.
