The Pawtucket Red Sox scored 7 times in the first three innings on Friday night in Rochester and defeated the Red Wings 9-3.
The Pawtucket offense was paced by a pair of former Red Wings standouts. Jason Repko had a solo homer and a two run double and Danny Valencia walked twice, doubled twice and singled, knocking in two runs. Overall, the PawSox belted 7 doubles and a home run in the win. Jose Iglesias went 3-5 with an RBI.
Nelson Figueroa was the winner. Figueroa (2-2) came on in relief of Daisuke Matsuzaka, who went 4 and two thirds innings. Dice-K allowed a two run homer to Chris Parmalee, his 9th in his last 15 games.
Figueroa went the final 4 and a third innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The PawSox (66-54) remain in second place in the North standings, one half game behind the first place Scranton Yankees and a game and a half ahead of third place Lehigh Valley.
The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Steven Wright makes his first Pawtucket appearance. He'll be opposed by lefty Pedro Hernandez.
