PawSox push around IronPigs again 7-1

The PawSox won the final game of the series against Lehigh Valley 7-1 Monday night at McCoy Stadium. Jose Iglesias went 3 for 5 and led the PawSox offense.

The PawSox jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. J.C. Linares doubled (8) and scored Jose Iglesias, then both Mauro Gomez and Linares scored on a throwing error by the IronPigs.

In the second inning the PawSox added to the lead with two more runs to make the score 5-0. Che-Hsaun Lin scored on a force out and Jason Repko scored on a sac fly by Andy LaRoche. In the third, Alex Hassan singled to left and scored on a RBI single by Lin, and the PawSox extended their lead to 6-0. Iglesias scored on a RBI single by Linares and the PawSox led Lehigh 7-0 after four innings.

In the top of the ninth Cesar Hernandez led off with a single and scored on a RBI sac fly by Jake Fox and trailed the PawSox 7-1. PawSox reliever Jose De La Torre struck out Jason Pridie to end the game.

Zach Stewart earned the win for the PawSox after throwing five innings, struck out four and allowed only three hits. Scott Elarton took the loss for Lehigh. He gave up nine hits and seven runs in four innings.

The PawSox are off tomorrow and host Syracuse in a 2-game series at McCoy starting Wednesday August 8th at 7:05 pm and Thursday August 9th at 12:05 pm. Chris Hernandez (1-1, 2.16) faces John Lannan (6-10, 5.24).
