PawSox power past another foe

(WPRI) - The Pawtucket Red Sox started their 8 game road trip with a bang, clobbering Louisville 9-1 in Kentucky. The Sox scored all their runs by the fifth inning.

The 15 hit barrage was lead by Mauro Gomez. He went 5-5, becoming the first Pawtucket hitter with 5 hits in a game since Drew Sutton in 2011. Ryan Kalish had three hits including a pair of doubles in his return from a sore knee. Jose Iglesias had two hits.

Brandon Duckworth improved to 9-2 with six shutout innings, allowing 4 hits. His ERA improved to 3.17 for the year.

The PawSox (56-45) are a half game ahead of Lehigh Valley, back in first in the North Division. The series continues on Saturday night at 6:05 in Louisville.
