PawSox losing streak continues

The Knights took the first game of the 4-game series against the PawSox 8-0 Tuesday night at McCoy Stadium. Pedro Ciriaco and Mauro Gomez led the PawSox with two hits each.

Lavarnway, Linares, and Spears each had one hit. Jose Iglesias went 0 for 5 in his first game back since being put on the dl May 29, 2012.

Charlotte scored three runs off of five hits in the first inning to take the lead 3-0. Drew Garcia homered in the second and the Bats scored four runs in the fifth to put the score at 8-0. Conor Jackson led Charlotte with three hits. Gomez hit his 24th double of the season and the PawSox had bases loaded in the eighth but a ground out by Che-Hsaun Lin ended the inning. Eleven total runners were left on base in the game.

Billy Buckner (1-2) took the loss for the PawSox and gave up eight hits, eight runs (2 homeruns) in four innings and two batters. For the Knights, Matt Zaleski (3-2) got the win. He gave up six hits in seven innings of work.

This is the 9th straight loss for the PawSox. The series continues tomorrow night at 7:05 pm at McCoy Stadium. Zach Stewart (NR) faces Charles Leesman (7-5, 2.16).
