PawSox blank Yankees 4-0

In the quickest 9 inning game played at McCoy Stadium (2 hours and 22 minutes), the PawSox took over first place in their division after defeating Scranton 4-0 Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Lavarnway and Andy LaRoche each had two hits for the PawSox. The PawSox pitching held the Yankees to just two hits.

Jason Repko hit a solo homerun (5) in the third inning and the PawSox took the lead 1-0. Che-Hsaun Lin led off the fifth with a single, advanced to third on a single by Jose Iglesias, and scored on Lavarnway's RBI double (22).

Iglesias scored on an RBI sac fly by Lars Anderson and the PawSox extended their lead to 3-0. A solo homerun (7) by LaRoche gave the PawSox another run and led the Yankees 4-0 after eight innings.

Billy Buckner earned the win for the PawSox after giving up one hit and one walk in six innings. Mike O'Connor took the loss for the Yankees. He gave up seven hits and three runs in five innings.

The home and home series continues tomorrow and Tuesday at 7:05 pm as the PawSox travel to Rochester, NY (Scranton's home away from home). Zach Stewart (1-2, 4.05) faces John Maine (4-3, 5.90).
