(WPRI) - The Pawtucket Red Sox salvaged a split in Indianapolis, taking the Friday night matchup 5-3. As a result, the PawSox win the season series from the team with the best record in the International League.
Indy fell to 66-42 nwhile the Sox improved to 60-48. The game marked the end of the PawSox' games against the West Division for the regular season.
Scott Atchison allowed three runs in the bottom of the first in a rehab appearance (right forearm stiffness). He struck out a pair and allowed a home run to Jeff Clement. Chris Hernandez earned his first Triple A win with 5 shutout innings of work. Clayton Mortensen, Daniel Bard and Jose De La Torre each tossed a scoreless inning.
The PawSox scored twice in the top of the first on RBI singles by Lars Anderson and J.C. Linares. Anderson picked up another RBI in the three run fifth inning.
Pawtucket heads home for the start of a four day home and home series with Scranton/Wilkes Barre. Game one is set for Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. at McCoy. Billy Buckner (2-5) will face lefty Michael O'Connor (2-4).
