PawSox back to winning ways over Chiefs

(WPRI) - The PawSox defeated the Chiefs 3-2 Saturday night at McCoy Stadium. As he continued his rehab, Jacoby Ellsbury went 0 for 4, with a strikeout, two ground outs and a pop-out for the PawSox.

In the sixth inning, three back to back singles gave the Chiefs the lead 1-0. Manny Mayorson scored Carlos Rivera. With bases loaded, Mark Prior walked two in a row to extend Syracuse's' lead, 2-0.

Andy LaRoche led off with a single and Alex Hassan walked to put two runners on base with no outs. J.C. Linares singled and runners advanced to load the bases. Nate Spears singled on an error by the shortstop and scored LaRoche and Hassan. The PawSox tied the game 2-2. With one out, Jose Iglesias singled and scored Linares. The PawSox led 3-2 after seven innings.

Mark Prior (1-0) earned the win. He walked two and struck out one in a third of an inning. Will Inman picked up the save. Tanner Roark (4-11) got the loss for the Chiefs. He pitched six innings, gave up four hits and two earned runs.

Jose Iglesias led the PawSox with two hits. Spears and Iglesias each had one RBI. For Syracuse, Carlos Rivera had two hits.

Clay Buchholz will start for Pawtucket tomorrow as they host Syracuse at 1:05 pm. Buchholz faces Yunesky Maya (6-6, 3.58).
