(WPRI) - Ryan Kalish homered (1) to right field in his first appearance with the team since August, scoring Pedro Ciriaco as the PawSox go on to beat the second place Indianapolis Indians (34-24) 13-2 at McCoy Stadium and improve to (37-22).

Kalish finished the game with two hits, three walks, a stolen base and three RBIs at the plate. Kalish was transferred today from Portland (AA) to continue his rehab since recovering from surgery to repair a bulging disc in his neck (last September) and labrum surgery on his left shoulder (last November).

To give the Pawsox two more runs, Mauro Gomez homered (12) to left field scoring Ryan Lavarnway who hit his tenth double of the season. They finished the first inning up 4-1 against the Indians.

In the bottom of the fifth inning Ryan Lavarnway homered (4) to left, scoring Ciriaco and Kalish giving the PawSox a 10-1 lead over the Indians. Lavarnway led the team with four hits while Gomez had three and Alex Hassan contributed two hits and a RBI sacrifice fly to center field. The PawSox scored two more runs in the seventh and finished with a total of 15 hits in the game while the Indians had 10.

Mark Prior looked sharp tonight as he pitched a scoreless inning and two-thirds striking out five of the seven hitters he faced. Prior signed as a free agent with the Red Sox on May 2 and was pitching for Boston's extended spring training team in Fort Myers, FL for the past month.

Starter Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-2) pitched one inning and a batter and gave up one run and three hits as he continues to rehab since having Tommy John surgery. Justin Germano (6-3) pitched 6 innings, gave up only one earned run (homerun) and five hits while striking out five. Justin Wilson (4-4) took the loss for Indianapolis as he gave up nine hits, seven runs (6 earned), four walks and striking out five in four innings of work.

The series continues Wednesday night at 7:05 pm. Billy Buckner (NR) faces Jeff Karstens (0-2, 4.82).
