New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft joined Patriots Hall of Famers Andre Tippett, Steve Grogan, and Steve Nelson in Providence Monday for opening ceremonies at the new Classical High School football field.

The field is made of synthetic turf, and it took the help of a lot of corporate sponsors to make it happen.

But it also took the help of the NFL's Youth Football Fund, but getting the league's help wasn't always certain.

Kraft said during the event that initially the NFL refused to give money to Classical because Providence wasn't considered the Patriots "home city." But Kraft disagreed and advocated for Classical to get the money to install the new turf.
