Pats' Matt Light to announce retirement

News conference planned for Monday morning

FOXBORO, Mass., (WPRI) - After an 11-year career in the NFL, Matt Light, left tackle for the New England Patriots, is hanging up his jersey.

Light will formally announce his retirement along with head coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft, Monday morning at a press conference at Patriot Place in Foxboro, Mass.

The news conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

The three-time Super Bowl champion was drafted in the second round of the 2001 NFL draft.

Light appeared in 175 games including five Super Bowls and six AFC Championship games. He also earned Pro Bow lhonors three times and was selected to the New England Patriots 50th Anniversary Team.

In 2002, the football star started The Light Foundation which helps to lead young people down a path to becoming responsible members of their communities.
