Colts fans not thrilled Pats are coming

Pats headed to Indianapolis for Super Bowl 46

INDIANAPOLIS, I.N. (WPRI) - The New England Patriots are headed to Super Bowl 46 in Indianapolis in two weeks - but they won't be welcome.

Indianapolis is hosting the Super Bowl, but it's Colts territory.  Colts fans are happy the Super Bowl is coming to town but one of the teams that will be playing is their arch-rival: the Patriots.

Eyewitness News Reporter Steve Nielsen took the pulse of Indianapolis fans to see if the hard feelings ease a little bit since the Colts won't be at the big dance.

"Didn't anybody tell you," one woman asked, "Indiana people don't like the Patriots?"

Fans were packed inside a bar not far from Lucas Oil Stadium watching the AFC Championship matches Sunday night.

"How much do we like the Patriots?  We don't hate them," another Colts fan said.  "We despise them."

The head of Indianapolis' Super Bowl host committee was a little kinder to New England fans who might be attending.  The city, he said, would happily take their money.  The Super Bowl is expected to be a big economic boon and no matter what color jersey visitors have on, their money will be good.
