PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Tens of thousands of people descended on Providence Thursday for the start of the NCAA Tournament .
State tourism officials estimate the tournament will bring $3 million into the local economy.
The warm weather allowed restaurants and bars to extend their service into block parties near the Dunkin' Donuts Center . Many area hotels are booked solid through the weekend.
Many fans said they were looking forward to the special WaterFire scheduled to take place Friday night.
