(WPRI) - This week's Cardi's Hometown Sports Hero is Providence College junior Ted Bancroft. After a standout career at Bishop Stang, the former Spartan earned a walk-on spot on the P.C. basketball team.

The guard saw only 35 minutes of playing time in his first two seasons, but in his junior year, Bancroft has become a major contributor, averaging almost 20 minutes a game as the Friars deal with injuries to starting guard Vincent Council and freshman Kris Dunn. The guard grew up as a lifelong Friar fan and followed in his Mother Patricia’s footsteps in attending Providence.
