EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) —Justin Shin came back from three shots down with three to play to beat Jordan Russell in extra holes and win the 51st Northeast Amateur at Wannamoisett Country Club.

Shin, a native of Korea who lives in British Columbia and will be a senior at New Mexico State, birdied the 18th hole to tie Russell at seven-under par. Russell had led the tournament’s first three rounds and owned a five stroke lead through 10 holes.

In a three-hole aggregate playoff, Shin made a great approach shot on the first hole and sank a three-foot birdie putt. He parred the second and third playoff holes to win the playoff by three strokes.

Shin shot 68-71-65-65 to reach the playoff. The 65 in the final round was the low rounds of the day.

Russell had a shot to make par on 18 to win the tournament, but put his putt just past the hole to score bogey.

Brandon Hagy and Michael Hebert tied for third at 3-under par. Zac Blair, Tim Jackson, Rick lamb, Bruce Woodall and Bobby Wyatt all finished at two-under par.
