BARRINGTON, R.I (WPRI) — Tournament co-hosts Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade both just missed birdie putts at the 18th hole Monday that would have given them the outright lead at 2012 CVS Caremark Charity Classic.

Instead, three teams, Faxon/Andrade, Morgan Pressel and Jay Haas, and Juli Inkster and Dana Quigley, all finished 9 under par to tie for the lead after day one at Rhode Island Country Club.

Faxon and Andrade remained steady across the round sprinkling their birdies around the course while Pressel/Haas made a late run to making birdies on the last four holes.

Inkster/Quigley gave a stroke back on the 15th hole but birdied the last three to finished at -9.

The toughest day was had by the pair of Annika Sorenstam and Peter Jacobsen who could never really put a solid streak of good shots together and finished at +2.

Following the three leading groups, the duo of Lexi Thompson and Corey Pavin finished at 8-under.

Check out the full leaderboard here.

Tuesday's final round begins at 9 a.m.
