BARRINGTON, R.I (WPRI) — When play begins Tuesday on round two of the 2012 CVS Caremark Charity Classic, nine of the ten teams will be in contention for the win.

Three teams ended Monday tied on top of the leaderboard with all but the duo of Annika Sorenstam and Peter Jacobsen within three strokes of the lead.

Tournament co-hosts Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade, paired together, are one of the teams tied for the lead. Neither has ever won the tournament they started 14 years ago.

"It's awesome," Andrade said. "I haven't had this feeling of being tied for the lead in a golf tournament in a really long time. We had a great day."

Also tied at 9-under-par, the teams of Juli Inkster and Dana Quigley and Morgan Pressel and Jay Haas.

"Juli played an unbelievable back nine," said Dana Quigley about his partner who helped the team birdie holes 12, 13, 16,17, and 18. "She was awesome."

Lexi Thompson and Corey Pavin are one shot back at -8.

Then a big group of golfers follow with four teams tied at 7-under-par. One of those teams, Suzann Pettersen and Fred Funk, would be in better shape had they not both played bad shots on the 11th hole. Funk put his in the water and Pettersen ended up buried in a sand trap. They finished the hole with a bogey.

"I birdied the first hole, and that was it. And then it was all Suzann," Funk said after the round when asked whether he or his partner played better on day one. "She played great. She kept us in there."

The tournament format changes for round two with Tuesday's play being changed to a scramble format . The teams tee off starting at 9 a.m.
