BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) - The CVS Caremark Charity Classic is in full swing.
Some of the best golfers in the world are playing at the Rhode island Country Club in Barrington and it's proving to be quite a competitive tournament.
Tournament hosts Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade are among the leaders at -9, tied with the pairings of Morgan Pressel and Jay Haas, and Juli Inkster and Dana Quigly.
Just one shot off the lead is the duo of Lexi Thompson and Corey Pavin.
Right behind them at -7 are four other teams.
It's a big year for the tournament as organizers expect the tournament will surpass the $16 million dollar mark, in terms of money raised for charity since the tournament began.
"One of our values as a company goes back to the founders 50 years ago, is giving back to the communities in which we live and serve, and this is our part of doing that and we're very proud of what the event has become here in Rhode island," says Larry Merlo, CVS Caremark President and CEO.
The 2nd and final day of the tournament begins Tuesday morning.
