BOSTON (AP) - It looked like the Red Sox tried to get Manny Ramirez as far away from them as possible.
Boston finally parted ways with their disgruntled slugger, shipping him off to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a major three-team deal just before the trading deadline.
Boston wound up getting outfielder Jason Bay from Pittsburgh, while the Pirates acquired two minor league prospects each from Boston and the Dodgers.
The Dodgers began the day one game behind first-place Arizona in the NL West, and were looking to add some punch to their line-up. The last-place Pirates needed some young talent and got reliever Craig Hansen and outfielder Brandon Moss from Boston and third baseman
Andy LaRoche and pitcher Bryan Morris from the Dodgers. LaRoche, Moss and Hansen will join Pittsburgh and Morris will go to Class A Hickory.
