Excitement builds for Charity Classic

The event has raised over $15 million since 1999

BARRINGTON, RI (WPRI)- The CVS Caremark Charity Classic got underway Monday at Rhode Island Country Club.

The annual tournament has features some of the biggest names in golf raising money for local charities.

The excitement for this year's event has been growing and fans are in for some surprises this year.

Eileen Howard Boone spoke to the Rhode Show about some team changes for this year's tournament. 

"This year we have mixed teams. So we have ten men and ten women. We've put them together and hopefully it will make for an exciting two and a half days", Boone said.

The annual tournament has donated over $15 million to Southern New England charities over the past fourteen years.
