Providence, RI - The Waterman Eco-Challenge at Narragansett Town Beach is meant to raise awareness for ocean and sun safety.
The event will be hosted by Garrett McNamara, Guinness World Record holder for the largest wave every ridden! Garrett, along with Senior Lifeguard Captain Brian Guadagno visited the set to talk about the event.
McNamara was a previous guest on The Rhode Show back in 2011. Since his appearance on the show he accomplished an epic feat.
“We were just having fun, I had no idea,” McNamara said. He had no idea at the time that the wave was of world record proportions, instead McNamara was just trying to stay on his board. “I was just thinking ‘gotta make it, gotta make it,’” he said.
McNamara and Guadagno will be attending the Waterman Eco-Challenge in order to inform other of beach safety.
“The whole event is based around raising awareness to ocean and sun safety,” said Guadagno.
The challenge will make others more comfortable in the water and is open to all skill levels.
Check-in for the event will begin at 8:30am with the paddle starting at 11:30am. More information on the event and sign-up information can be found by visiting http://www.rawelementsusa.com/waterman-eco-challenge-2012/
