PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Wednesday, June 13, WaterFire is holding a cocktail challenge to create a signature WaterFire cocktail.
Paul Sousa from Temple Downtown and John Scenck, who is the emcee of the event, joined The Rhode Show to talk more about it.
Five Temple Bartenders will compete to create the signature WaterFire cocktail. They'll be tasted by three judges. Barnaby Evans, Executive Artistic Director of WaterFire, Gail Ciampa, Providence Journal Food Editor and Dale Venturini, President of Rhode Island Hospitality will choose the winning cocktail.
“We’re celebrating the fifth anniversary of the restaurant and the hotel, and to celebrate we’re creating a special WaterFire cocktail," said Scenck.
On Tuesday, WaterFire was awarded a $454,000 national grant that will go toward expanding the use of the arts as an urban revitalization tool.
WaterFire founder Barnaby Evans said his organization will use the grant from ArtPlace -- a public-private partnership of major foundations and federal agencies, including the National Endowment for the Arts -- to develop new programs and experiment with the arts in "broad new ways."
The winning drink at Wednesday's event will be served all year at the bar at Temple Downtown. Proceeds from every sale will go directly to WaterFire.
In this segment Paul made a Blueberry Collins. Here's the recipe.
