WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- School is out, the heat has arrived, and now it's time to plan that vacation! But if your wallet is feeling a bit light, you may want to consider staying local. One local airline is offering flights to nearby destinations.
Cape Air will have you at the beach in no time.
“It's a great, hassle-free way to get to the Vineyard or get to Nantucket right from T.F. Green," said Trish Lorino, Director of Marketing and PR at Cape Air. "It's a wonderful convenience and it's just a fun, beautiful, fast flight.”
A quick flight means zero traffic.
"It's a great alternative to driving and then taking a ferry," added Cape Air Captain David Curry. "Providence is a great airport, it's easy to park, inexpensive, it's a short flight to the Vineyard.”
A big appeal for many travelers is avoiding the traffic, bridges, and ferries that they would have to deal with if they weren’t flying.
Having a convenient location to fly out of is essential as well.
"With Green Airport being centrally located between Southeastern Massachusetts and Connecticut, we have a lot of travelers within the region who take advantage of that seasonal service with Cape Air,” said Rebecca Pazienza, Community Affairs Manager at T.F. Green.
A short flight also means a small plane.
“The Cape Air planes are a twin Cessna, ten-seat airplanes," said Curry. "They're fun to fly and fun to ride in, and they fly about 180 miles an hour.”
Flying anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 feet, passengers are able to take in a spectacular view, and in just under 30 minutes you've reached your vacation destination.
While there, check out the shopping, views, and beach. After a long day, you'll be glad to have a fast flight home.
Cape Air runs roughly four to eight flights a day to Martha’s Vineyard.
Visit Cape Air's website to find flight information to both Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
