(WPRI) -- The unofficial start of the holiday season begins with Thanksgiving. Many take "black friday" off from work to relax or start shopping.

A new survey shows that 60% of Americans plan to do their holiday shopping over the Thanksgiving weekend. While many employees may not be happy about working on Thanksgiving, 22% of shoppers say they like the option of being able to shop on turkey day.
