How to cook dinner for under $10

Melissa d'Arabian shares her $10 dinner tips

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) – Are you always looking for new ways to save money on your family’s meals?

Mom and “Next Food Network Star” winner Melissa d’Arabian explains how to eat well, or host a dinner party for under $10 a person.

Melissa shared her ten dollar dinner tips that will help families eat well and stay on a budget.

Tip #1: Splurge smart: spend on quality produce

“Splurge smart. The produce isle is an excellent place to splurge, you are not going to break the budget. A handful of mushrooms can change an omelet and make something special for just pennies,” said Melissa.

Tip #2: Stretch expensive ingredients with cheaper ones

“Use inexpensive ingredients to stretch expensive ingredients, serve shrimp on white beans to stretch the pricey shrimp,” recommended Melissa.

Tip #3: Clean your pantry weekly

“Clean out your pantry once a week for anything heading south and turn it into a recipe.”

To find these recipes and for more ways to save money on your families meals, you can grab a copy of Melissa’s book ‘Ten Dollar Dinners’.
