Stylish and practical winter boots

Jill Marinelli shares boot styles

PROVIDENCE,R .I. (WPRI) - Winter is in full swing and if you haven’t done so already, it’s time to take out your winter boots! Personal Stylist Jill Marinelli visited The Rhode Show with some stylish alternatives to those old, beat up winter boots.

She pointed out that being practical in the cold, snowy weather does not have to take away from looking your best.

“Lately I’ve been getting a little flack from my comments that I don’t love the UGG boot, I wanted to show that there are some definitely fashionable and practical alternatives” said Marinelli.

Her selection included a pair of pink rubber rain boots from Kate Spade to “add a little color into your world” and make the rainy days a bit more fun. These ‘Randi too’ boots are priced at $150.00.

A pair of brown “Beste” Aldo boots was also featured. The high, leather riding boot marked at $160.00 makes for a “sophisticated alternative”, yet provides traction for a slippery day.

In New England, the weather is very unpredictable. Jill suggested Sorel "Joan of Arctic" boots, priced at $119.90 for the snowy days. She described them as “waterproof, warm, but then you’ve got little fashionable touches with the faux fur”.

Jill Marinelli said that for those who don’t want to buy another pair of boots, try “welly” socks: designed to slip inside of an existing boot and fold over the top. “You’ve got that fuzzy, coziness like an UGG boot or another cozy boot gives you, but it transforms whatever boots you have at home” said Jill. The socks come in various colors and cost $40.00.

Jill’s final alternative was the Aldo "Slaboda" boots, for $74.98. The inner fashionista would enjoy this pair as it has a high heel, lace up front, and rubber sole.
