WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- Over the past day shoppers have already been flocking to the long-awaited opening of Nordstrom Rack at the Warwick Mall.
“The crowd that first night, they knew what they were looking for,” said mall owner Aram Garabedian.
The store offers significant savings on brands like Hugo Boss, Kate Spade, Vince Camuto, Vera Wang and Tina Turk with most at 30-70% off. The Rack carries 47 of Nordstrom's top 50 brands.
The Warwick store is more than 37,000 square feet and will employ 70 new employees.
There have been several other store openings at Warwick Mall since the historic floods in 2010.
“We had the addition of Jordan’s Furniture Store, H&M, we had Off Broadway, a bunch of new stores.”
Pinkberry, The Paper Store and Lord's and Lady's Hair Salon are also newcomers to the mall.
Warwick Mall has essentially been transformed over the past two years and the community has rallied around it.
“It’s very, very exciting. My father in law and the other three founders in 1970, they would be here looking at this mall like I am looking at it today, it’s very exciting,” said Garabedian.
