Transitioning your wardrobe to fall

(WPRI) - It's hard to believe, but soon it will be time to start transitioning into fall fashion.

Personal Stylist Jill Marinelli joined The Rhode Show with some great pieces she has found from local store Shop Pioneer. Shoppe Pioneer recently won a Best of Rhode Island award from Rhode Island Monthly.

Billowy summer dress with fall colors

• "When you add different textures and materials to it, you can really get it ready for fall," said Marinelli.
  • Jill added a leather jacket, heavy metal accessories and a pair of skinny jeans underneath.
• “Layering is a great trick for fall.”

Wide leg jeans by Level 99

• “With a wide leg jean make sure you keep things more tailored on top. You don’t want to go too billowy on top and wear a wide leg jean, or else you could wind up kind of looking like a big marshmallow.”
• Keep proportions in check.

Black is coming back this fall

• "Black leggings with a tangerine top will be fantastic for fall," said Marinelli.

Faux suede

• A faux suede jacket makes for a great layering piece.
  • “It looks suede-y but it’s not too heavy.”
• Pair a faux suede jacket with a cami or a dress.

Huge sweaters with fall colors

• "Belt it or otherwise it’ll look too bulky especially if you’re petite," said Marinelli.

Geometric trend/Black and white colors

• “Black and white is going to be big. And we’re also going to see a lot of all white outfits and winter white for fall and winter.”
