(WPRI) -- Summer is almost over and soon it will be time to break out those sweaters and blazers for autumn.
But, a fall wardrobe wouldn't be complete without shoes. And, Andrea McHugh from Macy's says boots are a favorite staple for many women.
"You're going to look for different styles that maybe suit your lifestyle and also suit your budget," McHugh said. "Boots are always the hottest trend. In fact, I know people right now who can't wait for fall just so they can get new boots on. And there's great looks, you almost can't go wrong."
For women on the go, McHugh said comfort is key.
"You definitely want a great flat boot, because you can pair it with a skinny jean and wear it on the weekend, or you can put it with a great skirt for a nice office look," she said. "So, you're going to want to get something that's really well made and is going to carry you through the whole season."
Some women may want to channel their inner cowgirl, and go for country style.
"You can see it has this nice flirty look. It has the traditional country styling with a new edge," McHugh said. "It also is worn on the toe and on the heel already to give it that broken in look that we're all looking for. No one wants those clean, crisp new shoes."
But some may stand out with sleek, stylish shoes.
"You can see they're nice and tall. They have a great heel on them. They're suede, which gives them a nice polished factor. But, what I also love, is that they're stretchy on the back," McHugh said. "A lot of women have a hard time finding a boot that really fits their calf well. And so, by having this stretch, you can adjust it to your calf size and you can be comfortable all day."
For the edgier women, McHugh said biker boots may be the way to go.
"It's tough. It's got its studs on it. It has a great buckle. It's by Jessica Simpson, and she's a Texas girl, very polished."
There are also boots that combine the practicality of a flat with the feel of a boot.
"You can see it has a nice, low heel, so if you're going to be walking around, hitting the streets, you want to wear something comfortable. So, this is a great hybrid of the show and the boot," McHugh said.
No matter what pair catches the eye, McHugh said boots should be cohesive with the woman's lifestyle.
"If you think you're going to wear that boot all winter long, fall into winter, maybe even to spring, you're going to look for something that's really well made. There's really no point in getting something that's not going to last a long time."
