WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- Since shoppers in Rhode Island couldn't be more excited for the grand opening of Nordstrom Rack at Warwick Mall, The Rhode Show thought it'd be a great opportunity to give the Top 5 Search for a Star finalists a lesson in styling.
Personal Stylist Jill Marinelli had the chance to meet with the Top 5 before the store opened to offer some helpful tips.
“I just talked to the finalists where there are certain things you wear in real life that really don’t work for TV, so you want to avoid white, it kind of makes you look marshamallowy. You want to avoid little tiny patterns that the camera tends to make it look like its moving. And you generally want to dress a little more basic with solids for TV, not as wild as you would get in real life,” said Marinelli.
Jill also took measurements of the finalists explaining how important it is to dress for your body type.
“You always kind of want to emulate the hour glass shape, and if that’s not the shape you are, you use clothing, texture, colors to create the hour glass shape.”
These styling tips were applied to the finalists and they were able to get a makeover at Nordstrom Rack.
Watch the attached video to hear the different tips each finalist received.
