Recap of Search for a Star Auditions

Mornng show looking for a new co-host

It's hard to believe, but The Rhode Show already started its search for the next co-host! On Thursday, September 13th, dozens of hopefuls headed to Twin River in Lincoln to audition in the Search for a Star contest.

Many arrived eager to prove they had what it takes to make it in show biz. They began their morning by waiting in line to get a number. Only the first 100 people would have a guaranteed audition in front of the judges.

After checking in, they enjoyed a relaxing and fun atmosphere in the contestants lounge. Games from Dave and Busters, pictures with Photobooth Planet, relaxing with Yoga One, a Cardi's Furniture ‘Twitter Lounge’ to post their thoughts, and hair and makeup touch ups from Studio B Salon.

But looking your best is only part of it. Waiting can be nerve-wracking. While some were coping with their nerves, others were calm, cool, and collected.

They made their way into the judges’ room where they had to be quick on their feet. The three judges asked questions like "How do you think you'd fit it on the couch next to Michaela and Will?", "If you could interview anybody in the world who would you interview?", and “Where is your favorite place to go in Rhode Island?"

To calm the contestants’ nerves, they had advice from someone who went through the process before; Search for a Star winner of 2011, Mary Larsen. "There's no set box of a person that they want. There’s nothing that they need to check off; just to go and enjoy the process and to smile. To take a moment possibly right before you go in to think ‘ok, this is what I want to do and this is who I want to show who I am’, and just to have fun” said Larsen.

All of the audition videos will up on http://www.wpri.com/ by Monday so you can vote for your favorites!
