Runway to Realway: Men's fashion finds

With personal stylist Jill Marinelli

(WPRI) -- Men’s fashion is more than just matching shoes and a belt. Personal stylist Jill Marinelli visited the Rhode Show set to share her tips to make any man go from drab to fab.

Jill brought in some essentials that she feels every man should own. A great pair of shoes can say a lot about a man, so she suggested spending a bit more on a high quality pair.

“You can go with something like brown that can be dressed up or dressed down and you’re good,” she said.

Additional purchases that can be splurged on include a watch, a belt, and sunglasses.

“Buy fewer things, but buy better quality. It speaks a lot about you.” said Marinelli.

High quality items are more important than labels. The quality of clothing goes a long way too. Fitted, dark wash, boot cut jeans can look great dressed up or down. For the summertime, every man should own a pair of khaki shorts.

Most men aren’t looking to fill their closet, so getting the most wear out of fewer items is essential. A blazer was another of Jill’s picks. She says they can be worn dressed up or casual. In addition, take a long sleeve button-down shirt and roll up the sleeves for a more casual look.

Most importantly, men need to keep their interests in mind.

“You really have to think ‘what suits my lifestyle?’, and then spend on those things that you’re really going to get use of,” added Marinelli.

Her selections all came from Marc Allen Fine Clothiers, which can be found right on their website!
