WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - In honor of school vacation week, The Rhode Show decided to get the scoop on issues that arise in high school. To understand what really happens in the halls on local high schools, they brought in 4 teens from across the state.
During Wednesday's "Teen Talk" segment, they're discussing the issue of bullying.
Meet the teens:
Matty, a 17 year-old Junior from the Wheeler School, was among the group. He enjoys photography and plays soccer. He always values friendship and said his family mean a lot to him. He told the group about his involvement in the school’s Peer Support program which takes juniors and seniors and allows them to help underclassmen with the transition into high school.
Also in the group was Tess; a 17 year-old Senior at LaSalle Academy. She spends her time reading, cheerleading and dreams of traveling the world some day. She and her sister are just two years apart and are best friends. In addition to being close with her family, Tess also embraces her Greek heritage by dancing. “Kind of like those big Greek dances you see in the movies or see on TV, that’s what we do. That really happens” said Tess.
Brooke, the youngest of the group is a 15 year-old sophomore at West Warwick High School. She describes herself as a “family oriented girl” who loves music and enjoys performing in the drama club. She hopes her love of music will rub off on her three-year-old brother.
The final member of the group was Alex; a 16 year-old Junior from Johnston High School. He plays football, baseball, and basketball, and also finds time to perform in the drama club. He juggles his extracurricular activities while enrolled in honors classes and is a member in the National Honor Society.
