A local team is currently across the Atlantic Ocean, preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime competition.
Dedication, sweat, and fashion combine forces as the URI Women's Rowing Team takes on the Henley Royal Regatta in England.
The team will not only be competing against teams from England, but other countries as well.
"This is a really amazing opportunity for us because we are used to facing crews from all over New England and our own country, but it is so exciting to be able to face all these other crews who we have never seen before," said team member Alice Murray.
The girls have trained all year for this event, and have perfected the most important element - teamwork.
They will be competing in boats from Rhode Island-based company Resolute.
All of the URI students are working towards a common goal - representing their university. The girls will be sporting uniforms with the school's crest designed and put together by their classmates.
"It's just an incredible feeling to have the sense of community, that URI has come together to support us, to make our beautiful outfits," said Caitlin Dowd.
The team will be racing tomorrow, and you can follow their progress on Twitter @RhodyRowing !
