(WPRI) -- You may not have a green thumb, but you can still have fresh, locally grown, in-season fruits and vegetables delivered right to your doorstep.
Farm Fresh RI has started a new program that delivers a "Veggie Box" full of produce from Rhode Island and Massachusetts farms right to your workplace, community center, school, or daycare.
Every week, subscribers will receive a newsletter with information about what is in the box, recipes to utilize the different fruits and veggies, and stories about the farms they came from. Each box contains 8-10 items, weighing about 10-15 pounds, and the items will always differ from the previous box. The list of produce will change each week as the season changes.
If you love fresh-grown produce but don't have the time to peruse your local farmers market, this is the perfect program for you. It's a great program because it promotes healthy eating in the workplace and greatly benefits local farmers.
Even if you don't think you can use all of the veggies provided every week, you can always split the cost with a coworker!
Boxes arrive during the day on Tuesdays for those outside of Providence County and Wednesday for those in Providence County.
The upcoming Veggie Box schedule is as follows:
