(WPRI) - This year, the Fourth of July falls in the middle of the week and it's causing businesses grief. Fewer people are traveling for the holiday. Spending is also expected to be down this year.
Visa surveyed more than 1,000 people and 21% said they don't plan to celebrate Independence Day at all. If they are celebrating, they're going to spend about $190. That's down more than $200 dollars from past years.
