(WPRI) -- After a lot of rumors, it's a done deal. Ann Curry is leaving the Today show and is making the announcement today.
Curry admits that it will be "a bit of a tough day" for her as she says goodbye to her viewers.
She will, however, be staying with the network. Her new multi-year contract with NBC has her leading a seven-person unit with a ticket to cover the world's biggest stories.
She'll also produce network specials, and occasionally fill in elsewhere.
Curry says she's happy about the new position, but does not feel she was given enough time as co-host of the Today show. In interviews, she also admitted to being hurt by the "leaks" that fueled all these rumors.
