PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - As you walk through this years Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular and see the thousands and thousands of pumpkins on the trail, remember that someone had to carve them all one by one.

This year the crew was working around the clock to make it the "spectacular" event it is.

"Everyone here is under an incredible amount of pressure. We are all dealing with lack of sleep, a lot of long work days. We have an incredible amount of work to do to live up to the expectations," said George Nickolopoulous, a crew member.

Many people will travel to check out the display.

"One of the most incredible spectacles of the show is that as your walking along the trail you're not just looking at pumpkins, you're looking at characters that are looking back at you. You become part of the show."

Dozens of carvers cut the pumpkins right up until the last second before the gates open.

So far, the crew has worked 1,200 man hours.

More than seven miles of electrical cable is used to light the pumpkins.

"A totally new experience for visitor who have been in the past and for those people who have never been here they will be bombarded with visuals with sound with special effects," said Nickolopoulous.
