PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Beverly Hills 90210 star comes back with a Hallmark Movie Channel hit. Luke Perry has been captivating audiences for years, including his hit “Goodnight for Justice” which became Hallmark Movie Channel’s highest rated film ever! He returns to his role for the second installment in the franchise.

Perry joined The Rhode Show to speak about his new movie “Goodnight for Justice: The Measure of a Man”. His character is Judge John Goodnight, a circuit judge in the Wyoming territory in the 1870s. Back then, circuit jedges traveled throughout a circuit going from town to town playing the part of judge, jury, and executioner.

In the second film, the title character remains the same, but is faced with a different situation. “This time when he rides into town he meets someone that he’s met before; s lady from his past and her son is having some issues that I need to get involved in” said Perry.

With a lengthy resume of television and movie roles, Perry has enjoyed playing everything from the brooding to the funny. “Here’s a guy that does a lot of both. He’s a man’s man, he drinks, he plays cards, but then he sits down behind the bench to do his job he takes it very seriously” said Perry.

The complexity of John Goodnight’s character was intriguing to Perry. “The reason I came up with this character was so I could find a guy that allowed be to do a lot of different things in the same character” Perry said. He felt as though characters are sometimes drawn too narrow and he enjoys the fact that he can expand with his role “what I think is really neat about him and what I try to keep alive is he’s a human being the rest of the time” said Perry.

As for the swooning women over the years, Perry said “it beats the alternative”. ‘Goodnight for Justice: The Measure of a Man’ premiers Saturday, January 28th.
