The CVS Caremark Downtown 5K could be tough without the right training.

Before runners even think about a starting line they need to train, and this year, a group of coworkers at CVS Headquarters came together to do just that.

"We just knew there was a need for athletics at CVS and a way for all of us to get together and network and do something fun for our health," said Angela Minardi, Marketing Manager.

Every week a group of employees lace up their running shoes.

"We just knew there was a need for athletics at CVS and a way for all of us to get together and network and do something fun for our health," continued Minardi.

"Well Angela and I both share a passion for running, walking and really any outdoor activity as do many of our colleagues on CVS campus. So we decided to borrow our purpose and put people on path to better health by starting the CVS Caremark Fit Club," added Libby Irwin, Senior Marketing Manager for MinuteClinic.

About 75 people are part of the club, but it is growing every day.

"Well we have these snazzy shirts and you know it really gives us a steak in the ground and we're excited its the first annual 5k with the Fit Club," said MInardi.

CVS put together The Fit Club in order to encourage their employees to get into better shape and to prepare for the CVS Caremark Downtown 5K.

"I feel better than I have 20 years ago doing this. So, to me it is great it gives me more energy at home at work and I sleep better at nights too," said Vincent Marseglia, Industrial Engineering Manager.

Members of The Fit Club want to encourage other companies to start their own clubs. They say it is great for the health of the employees.

The CVS Downtown 5K is Sunday, September 16.
