Local author takes RI to new places

If you think you know Rhode Island, author Roberta Humble gives you the chance to prove it.

Roberta is the author of numerous Rhode Island books and trivia games including “Rhode Scholar” and “The BIG Rhode Island quiz” for those who want to know more about the Ocean State. 

“The BIG Rhode Island Quiz” is the name of Roberta’s new interactive DVD as well as a tiny booklet by the same name.  The DVD can be played on the television or the computer by choosing a multiple-choice answer. The game will tell you if you are wrong, and then give the correct answer. 

“We have a state so full of things, that I am discovering new things every day,” said Roberta.

Her journey through Rhode Island history did not start with authoring books.

“I gave a presentation at the State House for Independence Day, and it went over so well that Governor Carcieri asked me to do something with a book,” she said.

Much of Roberta’s knowledge of the state comes from people around the area who have spoken to her in person, written letters, and shared first hand accounts of historical events.

Parts of the proceeds from the sale of the books go to the Westerly Armory. Both the books and games are sold at stores around the state and online at www.westerlyarmory.org
