(WPRI) - It's Marathon Monday, and if the athletes in Boston have inspired you to start training and be a runner, April Barresi has some great tips to get you going.
Many people are expected to watch the runners in Boston. Thinking about running a marathon can be intimidating, but the truth is, anyone can become a runner.
"Anybody can be a runner if they haven't done it. You just have to start out slowly and pace yourself. You want to start by walking and then running, do intervals like that," said April Barresi.
While training, it's important for people to go out on their pace.
"You definitely want to stay hydrated. Lots of water. If you don't drink enough water you can cramp up very, very easily. You want to make sure that you stretch before and after. And just breathing. Breathing's very important," added April.
