Dena Paolino-Sarcia, President and Founder of Striking Beauties , an all-female gym located in North Attleboro, helped create a fun outdoor circuit training workout for you to do at home, at the playground or even the beach.

Each exercise will be done for the specific number of reps, then on to the next exercise without rest. Do 3 complete sets of the 5 exercises and you’re done!

Five exercises Striking Beauties is recommending to get in shape for summer are:

STEP-UPS ON OUTDOOR BENCH OR PICNIC TABLE
PUSH-UPS ON THE SAME BENCH
DIPS ON THE BENCH
V-SITS ON THE BENCH
CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO

Exercise One: STEP-UPS ON OUTDOOR BENCH OR PICNIC TABLE

On these summer days when you would rather be outside than in the gym, use whatever you can find to incorporate into your workout. Find an outdoor bench or picnic table (may want to have a friend sit on one side of the table to keep it balanced!) Step-up onto the bench with your right leg first. Bring your left leg up to the bench top. Lower right leg to ground, followed by the left leg. Repeat 10 times. Once you have done ten with the right leg lead, do 10 more with the Left leg leading. Repeat the circuit 3 times for a total of 60 step-ups.

Exercise Two: PUSH-UPS ON THE SAME BENCH

Now let's work the upper body using the same bench. Standing in front of the bench, Extend your arms and place hands on the top of the bench. Holding your body weight, with your body at an angel, bend your arms and lower your chest to the bench. Make certain that your chest is directly over your hands as you lower your body . Do 15 repetitions.

Exercise Three: DIPS ON THE BENCH

Ok let's turn around, facing away from the bench. Extend your arms behind you and cup the edge of the bench. Yu want your back close to the bench, elbows tight to yur body, legs straight out in front of you. Slowly lower your body down, bending at the elbows. Keep your back straight and gently brush up against the bench as you dip and straighten. Do 15 reps.

Exercise Four: V-SITS ON THE BENCH

Sit down on the bench, placing your butt at the edge. Lean back slightly and extend your legs straight out in front of you, off the ground. As you Pull your legs in, sit up straighter so your chest meets your legs. Hold for a split second, then release by extending legs straight out again. Never lower the legs. Repeat the in/out pattern 15 times.

Lastly we grab our jump rope for 100 jumps!

Exercise Five: Cardio, Cardio, Cardio!

Challenge yourself by getting your heart rate going. Grab your jump rope and do 100 jumps.

Once you completed the fifth exercise, DO IT ALL AGAIN 2 MORE TIMES!

Set goals. If you have created goals you will most likely want to achieve them!

Stay positive by fueling your mind and body as it talks to you but make sure you challenge yourself in the process. Fitness takes time but with the right mind power you CAN and WILL get there. Try to stick to a healthy (and practical) diet and lifestyle.

Striking Beauties can help you achieve your goals especially in time for summer. Come in and try a class and join our family!
