How to prepare for cold and flu season

With Pharmacist Jim Morelli

It’s the most wonderful time of the year--cold and flu season! I’m sure many of us have already felt some of the effects and went into to our medicine cabinet only to find we didn’t have what we needed!

Pharmacist Jim Morelli shared some tips on how to weather the winter woes smoothly.

Christmas cough? Hanukkah headache? Thanksgiving tummy ache? The holiday time conjures up memories for us all… BUT also some less favorable recollections like that holiday dinner we missed because of strep throat or the office party that our horrible cough crashed.

Jim recommends that you first get rid of all of the old stuff in your medicine cabinet, and from there on out - keep it simple.

Have a basic cough medicine, a basic allergy medicine, something to work as a decongestant, an antiseptic to clean wounds,  and bandages and gauze pads. He also suggests that people purchase generics, as they work just as well as name brands.

Chapped lips are a common winter woe, and Jim recommends men and women both stock up on Blistex

At the first sign of a cold, he recommends that you take a homeopathic product called Ocillococcinum , which will work naturally with your body.

Women often need more iron in their diets, especially this time of year, and for that  - Jim recommends Feosol .
