It's the number one resolution year after year: to lose weight. With intimidating and crowded gyms, it can be hard to stick to your goal.

Personal trainer, April Barresi, visited the set with a few simple, at-home exercises that are a great way to jumpstart a new year of workouts.

Jab: make fits, stand with feet shoulder width apart, extend arms out one at a time with a powerful punch

Hook: punch each fist one at a time across your body

Uppercut: punch fists one at a time upwards with power and control

Combine the jab, hook, and uppercut for a punch combo.

April also had an exercise for forward and backward kicks that focuses on balance and strength. Support weight on right leg and extend left leg in a forward kick. Transfer weight to left leg and kick backwards with the right leg.

To work the arms and legs, turn sideways and alternate punching both fists in one direction. Follow with a knee raise.
