One local celebrity is putting his name behind a great cause. The 2012 Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic will be held in August and will feature music and arts as well as an all-star crowd. Rhode Island’s own Jeffrey Osborne visited the set to discuss the upcoming event and sing a song.
Held at the Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth, RI, the celebrity classic will benefit local charities including the Amos House, Boys and Girls Club, Rhode Island philharmonic, and the MET school. The golf tournament will also be held in collaboration with the Clay Osborne foundation (Jeffrey’s brother).
Big names are expected to be at the first annual Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic including Magic Johnson who will host the event. Other celebrities include Smokey Robinson, Celtics coach Doc Rivers, Cheech Marin, and Ed Cooley from Providence College. Plenty of sponsors are getting involved in the cause as well, and Jeffrey said they’re still looking for sponsorship.
The Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic Inaugural Event will be held on August 13th and 14th. Visit http://jeffreyosborneclassic.org/HOME.html for a list of celebrities, sponsorship information, and tournament information.
