Now that September is here, there are many activities you can work on with your children after school hours that will keep them coming back for more.

Just because school is in session doesn't mean there aren't a heap of fun things you and your children can do together after school and on weekends!

"Because it's fall there are a lot of things that you can use that are seasonal that kind of allow you and your child to think outside of the box in terms of different activities that you and your child can work on on the weekends or after school," said Nicole Chiello of The Children's Workshop.

Go on a hike with your kids, and get crafty with leaves that you collect.

"If you go on a nature hike with your child and then you come back you can make a nature collage or you can take those different leaves and do leaf rubbings with them," added Chiello.

The Children's Workshop also recommends that you utilize your recyclables.

"You can take an old milk jug and cut a hole in it and you can put bird seed in it and it becomes a one season bird feeder for you and your kids."

Chiello also talked about artwork she found on Pinterest.

"You take two liter bottles and you dip it in paint and it actually becomes flowers that you can use on a canvas."

She also recommends to simply search the Internet for ideas based on the recyclables you can find in your home.

No matter what craft project you work on with your kids, it will allow children to think outside the box. And the activity will be a great way to spend time with your kids.
