Are you looking to spruce your home up a little bit? Maybe a fall remodel, or a renovation?
The team at Jimmy Stuart's says that the floor is like the fifth wall in a room and it is important to decorate it as such.
"We generally have two types of customers. One type of customer likes to go with the neutral tones and they will accessorize with colors and patterns, and then we have the other type of customer that likes to make a statement with their floor and manufacturers today are coming out with some great patterns," said Sheri Stuart, Treasurer at Jimmy Stuart's.
Carpeting remains the leader in flooring industry, accounting for more than 60% of retail sales.
And there are stand out features that shoppers desire.
"There's a few things that most people want. One is extremely soft. Durable. Easy to maintain and green," said Jimmy Stuart, Owner of Jimmy Stuart's.
They have options that exemplify all of those qualities.
"Being in a cleaning business for over 20 years, it's the easiest carpet to clean. Matter of fact, Mohawk gaurentees that any stain will come out with the cleaning and if it doesn't they will actually replace it," continued Jimmy.
Carpet should be cleaned as often as a car.
"It's just like an automobile, you change your oil every 3,000 miles, so the engine wears a long time, same thing with carpeting. Depending on the room and how its worn, most people do it twice a year, maybe bedrooms once a year."
Every day, buildings and structures are torn down around the country, resulting in added waste to landfills. Now the flooring industry is utilizing and "reclaiming" this wood to create flooring with unique texture and character.
Choosing hardwoods depends upon your own personal style.
"Whether they look for a modern look so they want really clean lines, or a rustic look where it has the character, the imperfections and the variation of planks," said Ed Goulart, aka "Bryan Watercrest", of Jimmy Stuart's.
Luxury vinyl is another big trend. It mimics the looks of hardwood or tile, but has the benefits of a vinyl floor.
The team at Jimmy Stuart's recommends that you view carpet samples on the floor because you need to see how it will look when installed.
